Brand South Africa made a courtesy call to the Ghana South Africa Business Chamber on 6th April, 2016 at the Chamber office to know how the chamber operates and strengthen ties between both countries.
GSABC holds Networking cocktail
Ghana South Africa Business Chamber held its maiden networking cocktail on 13th April, 2016 for the business community. This took place at the South African High Commissioners’ residence. GSABC’s new website “www.gsabc.org” was officially launched at the event.
GIPC adjudged best Investment Agency in West & Central Africa
Accra, April 13, GNA – The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) has been adjudged the Best Investment Promotion Agency (IPA) in West and Central Africa in 2015.
It was in recognition of its efforts towards investment promotion at the Annual Investment Meeting(AIM) 2016 Awards in Dubai.
A press release issued in Accra and copied to the Ghana News Agency explained that the award for the West and Central Region of the continent was for the showcasing of its support and facilitation for the Wangkang Ghana Ceramic Limited project registered by the Centre in 2015, valued at $ 93.6million.
Mrs Mawuena Trebarh, Chief Executive Officer of GIPC, on receiving the award said the achievement represented a milestone for Ghana’s vision of attracting quality FDI projects and recognition of the team effort of stakeholders involved in attracting and maintaining sustainable investments in Ghana.
Farmer unions to help Africa shape agricultural policies
Accra, April 13, GNA – Non-state actors from Africa have met in Accra, to renew their partnership commitments towards assisting governments develop inclusive agricultural policies and design programmes for food security and fight malnutrition.
Members of the Comprehensive African Agricultural Development Programme (CAADP) Non-State Actors’ Coalition (CNC) met to reflect on ways of building union members’ capacity to help governments come out with comprehensive policies to improve agriculture.
They are also working towards the speedy implementation of the Malabo Declaration adopted in 2014 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, to accelerate agricultural growth and transformation to improve wealth and livelihoods.
University of Ghana Hits 7th Position of Best Universities in Africa
The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings has announced Africa’s best Universities in the recently published World University Rankings.
University of Ghana is now at the 7th position in the whole of Africa making Ghana’s premier University the topmost University in the West African sub-region, and indeed at the national level. University of Cape Town once again hit the top position, while East African giant, Uganda’s Makerere University is the only institution outside South Africa to make the top five in fourth place.

South Africa Gets Investment Awards at the Annual Investor Meeting in Dubai
The Deputy Minister of the Department of Trade and Industry (TheDTI.gov.za), Mr Mzwandile Masina is leading a delegation to the Annual Investor Meeting (AIM) which is hosted under the patronage Sheik Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The AIM conference focuses on Foreign Directives Investment (FDI) attractiveness, best practise, global hot spots and future FDI destinations.
Masina is also attending 2nd Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Ministerial Economic and Business Conference to be held in Dubai from 11-13 April 2016. The conference will be held under the theme “SMEs and Innovation investing in a Sustainable and Inclusive Future”.
